Manchester United Win Carling Cup Over Spurs

Published by inked4life under Uncategorized Edit This

It took 90 minutes, extra-time and a penalty shootout, but United finally prevailed and nabbed their second trophy of the season (the first was their World Club Championship trophy). It came as no real surprise, given that Sir Alex has stated that the league comes first, that United fielded what many would consider to be a weaker team.
On the balance of play, Spurs will feel that they did enough to win, but a combination of stout defending by United and poor execution did them in. Their inability to finsih was none more evident than in the penalty shootout which they went on to lose 4-1.
United will now go on and hope to win the title, the FA Cup, and the European Cup, a staggersing achievement if they can pull it off.
